The Japanese Literature Publishing and Promotion Center (J-Lit Center) is a Tokyo-based nonprofit organization (NPO) founded in 2004 for the purpose of introducing Japanese literature overseas. Our activities focus on promoting the translation and publication of Japan's finest works of contemporary literature and building an international network of Japanese and overseas publishers. In 2002 the J-Lit Center was entrusted by the Japanese Government's Agency for Cultural Affairs with coordination of the Japanese Literature Publishing Project (JLPP). Since then the J-Lit Center has overseen the translation and publication of over 100 Japanese works in English, French, German, and Russian. The Center also operates Books from Japan, an English-language website that introduces the best recent works of Japanese fiction, nonfiction, and children's and young adult literature to readers, editors and publishers overseas.
