Ryo Kisaka

Ryo Kisaka 木坂涼

Ryo Kisaka (1958–)  was born in Saitama Prefecture and graduated from Wako University. She is a poet, children's book author, and translator. She won the Modern Poetry Hanatsubaki Prize in 1987 for her poetry collection Tsuttsutto (Ts-ts), and the MEXT Award for New Artists in 1997 for her poetry collection Kin'iro no tsuna (The Golden Rope). In addition to authoring original stories and picture books for children, she has translated numerous titles from overseas. Among her other works are Kisaka Ryo shishu (The Poems of Ryo Kisaka), and the picture books Ohayo kyoryu (Good Morning, Dinosaurs), Karada no naka de don don don (That Thump Thump Thumping Inside), Dakko bento (Squeezed Tight Lunch Box), and Ottotto (Oops).
