Atsushi Nakajima

Atsushi Nakajima 中島敦

Atsushi Nakajima  (1909–1942)  was born in Tokyo to a family of Chinese scholars. He graduated from the University of Tokyo. In 1941 he was dispatched to Palau to work as a textbook editor. A year later, he resigned this post and began working full-time as a writer. In addition to works about China, Nakajima has written Hikari to kaze to yume (Light, Wind, and Dreams), a novel about Robert Louis Stevenson's final years on the island of Samoa.
