Shintaro Ishihara 石原慎太郎

Shintaro Ishihara (1932–)   is currently governor of Tokyo, but enjoyed a wide-ranging career as a writer long before entering the world of politics. His first novel, Taiyo no kisetsu (tr. Season of Violence), written while he was still in university, was an enormous critical and commercial success.
